The objectives of this full-day seminar are:

Dr. Mao is a Licensed Acupuncturist, a Diplomate of Chinese Herbology and a Diplomate in Anti-Aging. He is currently in general practice with special interest in immune, hormonal and aging related conditions. He was awarded the Outstanding Acupuncturist of the Year Award in 1987. Dr. Mao along with his brother (Dr. Dao) and their father founded Yo San University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Santa Monica. He is currently director and a professor of Chinese medicine at Yo San University. Dr. Mao is a member of the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine, the AOM ALLIANCE, American Society of Acupuncturist, the American Association of Acupuncturist & Oriental Medicine and National certification Commission for Acupuncturist & Oriental Medicine Diplomate in Chinese Herbology.
Dr. Turek is Director of The Turek Clinic (www.TheTurekClinic.com), a men’s health clinic in Beverly Hills and San Francisco. He is a former Professor of Urology, Obstetrics & Gynecology at the University of California San Francisco and held the Academy of Medical Educators Endowed Chair in Urology. He is an active clinician and internationally recognized authority on men’s health issues.
Dr. Turek attended Yale College and Stanford University Medical School. Following a urology residency at the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Turek was fellowship trained at Baylor College of Medicine. His publications include basic research that focuses on germ and stem cell genetics and epidemiologic studies of men’s sexual and reproductive health problems. He is a consultant to the CDC and NIH. He has received NIH grants to help infertile men become fathers. He is an Advisory Board member of the Men’s Health Care Network and Fertile Hope and Editor of the Reproductive Volume of Netter’s Images, published in 2012. He maintains an active blog at www.TurekonMensHealth.com.
Dr. Turek is Past-President of the Society of Male Reproduction and Urology, The American Society of Andrology and The Northern California Urology Society. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, the Société Internationale d'Urologie and the Royal Society of Medicine (London). In 2009, he founded a free volunteer medical clinic powered by retired physicians for the working uninsured (www.ClinicByTheBay.org). More recently, he executive produced an award winning Hollywood short film entitled “If I Could Tell You.” His hobbies include vintage cars and longboard surfing.
Dr. Richard Buyalos is board certified in reproductive endocrinology, obstetrics and gynecology and is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. A graduate of the Thomas Jefferson University Medical College in Pennsylvania, Dr. Buyalos serves as associate clinical professor at the UCLA School of Medicine and is internationally recognized for his work in infertility, reproductive-aging, and polycystic ovary syndrome.
With over 25 years of experience, since 1983, in ovulation induction and assisted reproductive technology (ART), he has published more than 70 scientific articles, abstracts and book chapters, and is a member of numerous professional organizations, including the Society of Reproductive Endocrinologists and the Society of Reproductive Surgeons.
Dr. Buyalos has served as faculty for courses on advanced operative laparoscopy and pelvic reconstructive surgery. He has received awards from the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, given prize-winning presentations at the Annual Meeting of the American Fertility Society, and received the "Best Doctors for Women" award by Good Housekeeping magazine in 1997.
Dr. Buyalos serves on a variety of committees for both the American Society for Reproductive Medicine and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and is an ad hoc reviewer for several scientific journals. Additionally, he is co-director for Fertility and Surgical Associates of California.
Dr. Richard Marrs is board certified in both Obstetrics and Gynecology and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. He attended medical school and completed postgraduate training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Texas. Dr. Marrs completed a fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the University of Southern California. During his fellowship training, he acquired skills in cell culture; studied the ultrasound monitoring of follicle development; and along with Drs. Vargyas and March developed ovarian stimulation protocols; all of which would play essential roles in establishing this country’s second In Vitro Fertilization program in 1981. He made medical history in 1986 with the first pregnancy from a thawed frozen embryo.
Dr. Marrs was founder and first President of the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology. He was a member of the Society’s Ethics Committee, which produced the first document in the United States on the ethical treatment of infertility using the reproductive technologies. Dr. Marrs has published over 200 scientific articles and book chapters on human reproduction, and has authored the popular “Dr. Marrs’ Fertility Book.” He has received numerous honors and awards, including the first Career Achievement Award from the American Fertility Association. As one of the founders of modern fertility treatment, Dr. Marrs is considered to be one of this country’s premier male fertility doctors. He has dedicated his life’s work to helping couples fulfill their dream of having a family. Shiaoting Jing PhD, LAc received her Oriental Medicine degree after completing a five-year medical program at Gan Su College of TCM. She also has an MA and an OMD degree from the prestigious Beijing University of TCM, the largest and most advanced medical training institute in China. Ms. Jing has 20 years of experience in teaching and clinical practice, and has expertise in gynecological disorders, including infertility, endometriosis, and PMS.
Dr. Arutt holds a Doctor of Psychology degree from California School of Professional Psychology, Los Angeles, where she received the Outstanding Doctoral Project award for her clinical dissertation Healing Together about couples and trauma. A licensed psychologist and expert in PTSD, Dr. Arutt recognized that her background working with couples and trauma was tailor-made for the ART community after welcoming twins nearly 15 years ago via IVF. In addition to her private practice she teaches Clinical Interviewing, Ethics and Professional Development, Sex Roles and Gender, and Intercultural Processes and Human Diversity to Ph.D and Psy.D. students.
