In this course we will explore how the Eight Extraordinary vessels support health and well-being during major life events and transitions.
The Eight Extraordinary vessels (8EV) are the reservoirs of resources that govern growth and development throughout the 7/8 cycles of jing. We will introduce the functions of these vessels as they relate to:

  • Puberty & menarche
  • The menstrual cycle and fertility
  • Post-partum health
  • Menopause and Andropause

These vessels can help patients to be adaptable in the face of major life changes. Patients may then make better choices about how they will use their resources.  We will also investigate how trauma and resistance to change can block the healthy and productive use of resources leading to chronic and difficult to treat diseases.

  1. Participants will review how the need for resources change as we age.
  2. Participants will learn the functions and indications for using the 8EV during pivotal changes in the 7/8 cycles of jing.
  3. Participants will learn how to associate pathology in the vital substances with pathology in the 8EV.
  4. Participants will learn how to construct effective 8EV treatments.
