Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is the most common endocrine dysfunction of reproductive aged women, as well as being the most common cause of female infertility. The conventional approaches to this highly prevalent condition have changed little during the past decade, despite an abundance of new scientific data and research.
Underlying the current epidemic of PCOS are the ubiquitous endocrine disruptors, alterations to the food we consume, and modifications to our sleep/wake schedules – ultimately resulting in the fostering of hormonal dysregulation, gut microbiome dysbiosis, and circadian rhythm disruption.
The perfect storm has occurred, affecting the foundational functioning of female bodies, impacting fertility and metabolic health, and promoting the epidemic growth of PCOS.
This presentation will review the newest cutting-edged research and its application to the development of natural approaches to optimize the health and reproductive functions of women with PCOS.
Goals and Outlines
Dr. Felice Gersh is a globally-recognized expert on women’s hormones, gut microbiome, and circadian rhythm. She frequently collaborates with numerous research organizations and lectures internationally on women’s health topics.
As Medical Director of the Integrative Medical Group of Irvine, Dr. Gersh focuses on understanding women’s innate physical and emotional make-up. Through her research and practical experience, she has come to understand that women have internal, natural rhythms that are absolutely essential to female health. These rhythms are controlled by hormones, particularly estrogen, and may be kept in balance through both conventional and holistic treatments.
Dr. Felice Gersh also starts with the most natural treatments that produce the fewest undesirable side effects. In most situations, she uses pharmaceuticals as a last resort because, although pharmaceuticals deal with symptoms, they can also disrupt the body’s natural ability to heal and affect women’s reproductive functions.
