This course will enable practitioners of Chinese medicine to understand reproductive-disorders from both Western and TCM perspectives. This ‘global’ approach to diagnosis and care will help the practitioner become more seasoned and sophisticated in their approach.

Students will learn how having a knowledge of Western reproductive issues can, in many respects, help inform how we approach and treat cases with TCM. Acupuncture and herbal medicine protocols will be taught, as will patterns-of-disharmony and their concomitant 'treatment principles’.

Goals and Outlines

  • The student will learn to identify causes of infertility from a Western medical perspective.
  • Students will learn to use the Western medical information to assist in arriving at a more ‘robust’ TCM pattern-of-disharmony’, and a more ‘comprehensive treatment strategy.
  • Students will learn what they cannot successfully treat and what they can.
  • Students will learn about Western medical reproductive testing and how to interpret the results.
  • Students will learn specific acupuncture and herbal medicine protocols which are specific to the disorder being treated.

    Founder and director of The Berkley Center for Reproductive Wellness, Mike Berkley is licensed and Board Certified in Acupuncture in New York State and certified in Chinese herbology by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. Mike graduated from The Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in New York in 1996, and he has been treating reproductive disorders since then. Mike is the first acupuncturist/herbalist in the United States to work exclusively in the field of reproductive medicine. He enjoys working in conjunction with some of New York’s most prestigious reproductive endocrinologists while delivering attention and treatments that our infertility patients’ need.
