What is your wake up call?
At the time, I was not aware what triggered it, but back in 2012 I was struck with a bout of anxiety that would not go away. I had no logical reason to feel this way. My personal and professional life were in good order and I was financially comfortable. Although I was considered to be in good health, I actually thought I had something serious like cancer and this was my body's way of communicating the imbalance, since the anxiety was so visceral yet I had no good reason to be feeling anxious.
I am all good now. I ran a battery of functional medicine and conventional tests and finally found the underlying cause, inflammation was going to my brain from a festering infection in my jaw related to a root canal gone bad. I am so grateful for the experience. It was my wake up call. I learned empathy for the patients I see with anxiety and depression. Those two years of debilitating anxiety ( which I kept it hidden although I was suffering terribly inside) was what inspired me to take functional medicine training with Dan Kalish so I could learn to run all the lab tests and more importantly, it motivated me to pursue spiritual practices that continues today. I am grateful for the Work of Gila Golub which I continue to practice daily and has truly provided me with a framework to develop conscious thinking and behaviors that allows me to enjoy long periods of peace of mind.
